sand in a bottle
I have returned!! I know it's been awhile. It's has been so nice here and I have been working on a lot of different projects! Here's one since we've been back for Va-ca.
I collected sand from the beaches we visited. Barbados, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, and San Juan. I got these cute bottles from Michaels, filled them up, added the cork, and wrapped twine around the stem of the bottle. I made these tags by dying them with food coloring and water. I let them sit in the dye for about 8 hours, and let dry over a crumpled paper towel to make them a little inperfect looking. Wrote the name of the beach on each and tied it on.
These are going to look great in my sunroom, which has a beachy look!
Stay tuned for more projects I've been working on!

lighted art
I just got finished with this project on Friday. It was fast, easy and kinda fun to make! I have been racking my brain to make something that would go over our bed. So I decided to make these canvas lighted pieces of art.
I used 2 of the same sized canvas, painted it, and then on the wrong side of the canvas, I used a pencil to map out where the lights where going to go. I used a knitting needle (could use a nail or many other things) to punch out the holes. And inserted the lights (used a strand of Christmas lights).
I really liked how these turned out. They are so pretty looking when it's dark in the room.
Now I am going to make cord covers for the part of the cord you can still see.
(note: I wouldn't leave these plugged in for long, since they sit on the canvas closely)

my art
Here's my first piece I painted at Mud About You. I think it turned out really good considering it was my first piece! The only thing I would change would be the green, it's a little too dark for the color scheme I had going on.
But it looks oh so cute on my hutch holding candy canes for visitors coming by the house!!

board of inspiration
Our recent visit to Canada we went to IKEA, and found some good buys. One thing I was pretty excited about was a glass board to hang on the wall. When reading some of my favorite blogs, I've seen their take on a 'inspiration board", and I've been wanting to make my own. The glass board was PERFECT for it! It will always be a work in progress, but here's my start on my own inspiration board.
Some items on my board:
Dorothy, Toto and the Ruby Slippers
Queen of Glitter article
Pink glitter letters
Coco
Lace dollies
PINK peonies
Hot pink satin ribbon

box of thanks
As a thank you for all the goodies my Mom gave to me over the week, I decided to make her a little something. I took a box and painted it a couple of coats of a green sage color, personalized it , and then of course added some GLITTER. Using my Sizzix machine I made her a bunch of scalloped tags and wrapped them in ribbon and put them inside.
All in all, I think my little "thank you" turned out pretty darn well!

i heart free things!
Back in May I posted about finding some furniture for free by the side of the road. Well I worked on it, and I ended up making the cushions and covers for the seats and many, many pillows to put on it! I think it turned out really great and it looks perfect, and is great to sit and read in our sunroom!

glitter and pumpkins, oh my!
This past week my new boss gave me a project to work on: create a pumpkin for a instore contest. I decided to go with creating Martha Stewart. I thought it would be a great idea considering Martha is pretty big right now in their company; and plus it would be a great display coming into the store with her crafts.
I used 2 pumpkins, dressed one with a blue shirt, an apron and a purse. I made a little pocket on her apron and put her signature "M" and included a Bone Folder in her pocket. On her purse I used her Halloween stamps and glitter to decorate.
Then I wanted to add something to the display, so I used her glitter and glue to pumpkins. Her glitter is AWESOME! I must get some asap! Can you believe I get paid for this? I LOVE it!
What do you guys think of my little display?!?

project!!
I've been working on this table for a couple of days, and I finished it today. I found the unfinished wood table at Michaels, painted it with craft paint and glued on sea glass that I bought at PB. I think it will look great in my sunroom. Check out more pictures in my project gallery!

the season has begun!
Garage sales are great to find gently used things and fixer-upers. My Mom and I went to a couple of sales on friday to see if we could find interesting, and we did definently go home with a couple of gems! At the first sale we went to we found lots of glass canisters that would be perfect for my craft things or displaying objects and an old lantern ; at the next sale I found even more canisters that were smaller in size for 5 cents each! Love it! We were driving to the next and we found a sofa and 2 chairs that would look great in my sun room or even use it outside...for free!! We went to some others and found some more great finds. The start of the garage sale season is here! Check out this site to find sales in your area!
